Solar Eclipse at the Van Vleck Observatory

Solar Eclipse at the Van Vleck Observatory In-Person

You are invited to Wesleyan University's Van Vleck Observatory on Foss Hill to see a solar eclipse. Wesleyan University's Department of Astronomy will be hosting this joint Russell Library - Wesleyan University event. Solar telescopes and solar eclipse glasses will be available to safely view the eclipse. Real life astronomers can answer your questions about space, including a Spanish-language table with native Spanish speakers and materials.

The eclipse begins at 2:14pm, peaks at 3:24pm, and ends at 4:37pm. In case of cloudy weather, the eclipse will be live-streamed indoors. If it's cloudy, come inside the observatory for a free planetarium show, and enjoy eclipse-themed activities for kids and adults.

No registration required. Free parking is available in the "V Lot" on Vine Street on Wesleyan's campus. Use the Vine Street cross walk to go up the stairs to Foss Hill. Handicapped parking is available at the observatory on Foss Hill driveSolar eclipse glasses will only be handed out at the Van Vleck Observatory, not at Russell Library.
