Wangunk Tribe Talk In-Person

Join us to learn about the Wangunk with local tribal historian and Wangunk elder Gary O’Neil on Monday, November 20th at 6:00 pm. Gary O'Neil will speak about the history of his people, the Wangunk, who lived in Middletown and the surrounding areas up until the early 1800's. Gary is a direct descendant of the Jonathan Palmer line of the Wangunk.

The land the library sits on is Wangunk land, as well as all of the Middletown area. The month of November is Native American Heritage Month, and the library is doing our part to recognize and partner with Gary and Kyle to bring awareness and recognition to the Wangunk, often considered the “lost tribe.”

Registration is recommended.
