Scientific research has now caught up with ancient knowledge that time spent in forests have a direct, measurable and profound effect on the human spirit and physical well-being. Learn about how our biology responds to the forest and why this is so important to our future and the overall well being of our community.

One Book on the River Bend's title for 2020 is the Pulitzer Award Winning book, The Over Story by Richard Powers. This is a rich and mesmerizing piece of contemporary literature. Like the rings of a tree, chapters and and character arcs circle back on each other in interlocking fables. The stories range New York to the Timber Wars of the Pacific Northwest. It is a stunning evocation of - and paean to - the natural world. An eye opening look at time, humanity, the environment, and the relations among them. A book that could change the way you think of the world and our place in it.

Funding for One Book is from the Friends of the Russell Library and the Middletown Rotary.
