Screen Free Saturday Book Group and walk at Crystal Lake (Outside) In-Person

Join the Russel Library staff and Everyone Outside for an outdoor storytime, book discussion, nature games and trail walk for Screen Free Saturdays, at Crystal Lake in McCutcheon Park.

  • For the grown ups we have copies of ""The Hidden Life of Trees"  by Peter Wohlleben available to check out at the library right now. (Stop by 9-5 from Monday - Saturday or call us at (860) 347-2528 to arrange for curbside pick up.)
  • For younger people (5-12), no need to pre-read anything!  We will bring copies of "Can You Hear the Trees Talking" to explore together.
  • For our youngest attendees (Birth - 4 years old) no need to pre-read anything! We will be doing a storytime featuring "Peter and the Tree Children" and  "Call Me Tree / Llamame arbol" by Maya Christina Gonzalez!

We encourage attendees to bring a blanket to sit on since we will set up in the grass by the pavilion for the children’s book groups.

Everyone Outside will add to the fun by offering fun nature/tree themed games for kids (and playful adults) and a family friendly walk to explore the nearby trees including some basic identification, ecology and interesting ethnobotanical uses for food, medicine and shelter.

For all ages!
