Jazz Up Close presents Yoron Israel

Jazz Up Close presents Yoron Israel In-Person

Resonant Motion, Inc. presents its second and last in-person Jazz Up Close presentation of the year, continuing the series hosted by the Russell Library since 2015. For this event, drummer/composer Yoron Israel will present and discuss his original compositions accompanied by bassist Henry Lugo and pianist, host, and series curator Noah Baerman.

Yoron Israel is one of the most prominent jazz drummers of his generation and has forged a noteworthy reputation as a bandleader, with the recent release New Dreams serving as the latest addition to his substantial discography under his own name. As a sideman he has performed and recorded with a who’s who of modern jazz, spending time in the bands of Sonny Rollins, Horace Silver, Abbey Lincoln, Tony Bennett, Ahmad Jamal, Art Farmer, Kenny Burrell, Jim Hall, Larry Coryell, Jimmy Heath, Pharaoh Sanders, David “Fathead” Newman, Joe Lovano, Tom Harrell, Roy Hargrove, James Williams, and Jay Hoggard, among countless others. Mr. Israel is Chair and Professor of Percussion at Berklee College of Music as well as serving as Pastor of Music and Art at Destiny Life Center International in Randolph MA.

Support for this event has been provided by Resonant Motion’s donors and CT Humanities (CTH), with funding provided by the Connecticut State Department of Economic and Community Development/Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA) from the Connecticut State Legislature.
